Derived from JMK’s love of sailing came the refurbishing and structurally upgrading of Beauty, a classic Bristol 32 blue-water sailing yacht by America's Cup Designer, Ted Hood. Hood won both the America’s Cup and Newport to Bermuda Race, and is one of only two sailors to ever do so. The sloop was originally launched in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1976. The work was based on refurbishing the yacht back to its original features and a complete engineering overhaul and updating of the services. Restoring the original rig and installing additional elements, which were in line with the original design brought the sloop back to sea worthiness.

Many feel that the Bristol 32 is one of the most beautiful boats designed with its long overhangs. This boat is built more heavily than most current production sailboats. The Bristol 32's proportions are typical of the cruising/racing sailboats built between the 1930's when the Cruising Club of America rule was conceived to 1970 until the International Offshore Rule replaced it. Hood designed the boat with a narrow beam, short waterline, long keel, spoon bow and gently flaring end sections that provide a calm feel as she comes downward into a sea. The stern is so slender, that she is practically a double ender. One of the strong points of the narrow stern is it lacks the rounding up tendency of the modern full-width stern design. The interior is beautifully detailed mahogany and teak.
